An Inversion Layer - A What?

If you ever wondered what an inversion layer looked like this is an example:

  
We woke to a ground frost and a big cloud in the valley. Turns out the cloud is the product of two small bonfires and is being held down by the cold air above. This is called an 'inversion layer'. There are other types of inversion layer but that is what Wikipedia is for.
